On this home page, we'll put some of my favorite pictures and give some general information about how we're
all doing.
Ethan is turning out to be such a smart and adventerous baby! We are so proud of all of his firsts...
6/12/05 - Ethan's first birthday!
Ethan had a special rubber ducky bathtub cake to eat. He took a few looks at the cake before sticking
his hand in it...once the hand went in the tears started to fall...apparently Ethan doesn't like icing...at all! We
aren't sure if it is too sweet or if he doesn't like the texture or something completely different, but we do know that when
the icing goes on Ethan he is very unpleased!
Ethan did eat some cake (minus the icing) and seemed to enjoy this alot!
As many little ones his age Ethan seems to enjoy boxes and paper more than actual toys, but he has gotten
much play time out of his many belongings so far.
Ethan is still thriving at his daycare. He does really good with the other babies and the teachers.
He genuinely likes going to daycare in the morning and always gets excited when he realizes where he is going. During
the day he has graduated to having his naps on a cot and taking 1 long nap rather than several short naps.
Ethan is still running around like crazy as he crawls all around the apartment with his prosthesis on.
He has finally gotten to the point where he tends to leave it on for long periods of time as he realizes how very valuable
it is to his ability to stand and play.
UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!
6/17/05
We are so very excited to announce that Ethan has received his walker to help him learn to balance himself
and then walk on his own. He has really adapted well to this new item. In fact, within 20-30 minutes of getting
his walker he had figured out how to pull up and walk with it! He seems to love the fact that he can independently get
himself across the apartment all on his own.
FAMILY UPDATE - NEW HOUSE.
In case you haven't heard, I recently accepted a new position within my department that requires me to be
a live-out professional. This means that Joe and I are moving from our current apartment. We purchased a house
in town and will be moving at the end of June. We will keep you posted with more information as the day draws closer.
Hope all is well on your end. We can't wait to see everyone again soon.
Love,
The Lauchstaedts
